Public exhibition to update on Otterpool Park’s next steps

10 June 2026

An exhibition to update members of the public on the next steps for Otterpool Park near Hythe will take place later this month.

Otterpool Park LLP, the master developer leading and driving forward plans for the new 8,500-home sustainable garden town, is preparing to submit updated information to the Local Planning Authority (Folkestone & Hythe District Council) as part of the planning process. These updates reflect progress across key areas, helping to accelerate delivery of the garden town, supported by the recent approval of a separate planning application for early infrastructure.

The public exhibition will take place at Sellindge Village Hall on Wednesday 24 June. Members of the public are invited to pop in any time between 2.30pm and 8pm.

Since the council resolved to grant planning permission in 2023, several elements have progressed. The updated submission will reflect changes in policy, legislation and guidance, as well as new survey information. These updates will also provide greater flexibility and support the delivery of the first homes, all of which will be explained in more detail at the exhibition.

“This submission is an important stage on our way to securing planning approval. We’re looking forward to sharing our updates and giving people the opportunity to ask questions about the Otterpool Park development.”
- John Foster , Development Director, Otterpool Park LLP
“We are pleased that progress is continuing at Otterpool Park and this exhibition is a valuable chance for residents to understand how the project is responding to new guidance, information and the needs of the district.”
- Cllr Jim Martin , Leader of Folkestone & Hythe District Council
“Years of hard work have brought us to this point and much has moved on since the council resolved to grant planning permission in April 2023. Updating the planning application ensures it reflects the latest evidence and best practice. The exhibition will give people a clear view of what’s changed, what hasn’t and how we’re preparing to deliver the first homes.”
- Paula Hirst , Chair of the Otterpool Park LLP Board

Information from the exhibition will also be available on this website from Thursday 25 June for anyone that is unable to attend in person.
