Arcadis Appointed to Otterpool Collaboration Board

21 October 2016

Arcadis is pleased to announce its appointment as Lead Consultant and Design Team for the masterplanning of the proposed new garden town in Shepway, near Folkestone in Kent, known as Otterpool Park.

Sarah Whittington, UK Head of Housing at Arcadis, said: “We are very proud to be working on this exciting project. With the demand for new housing in the UK higher than ever before, developments such as this will not only provide homes for existing and future residents of Shepway, but bring regeneration, employment and economic benefits for the wider area.”

Cllr Philip Martin, Cabinet Member at Shepway District Council, said:

“Otterpool Park provides a fantastic opportunity for the whole community to come forward and help shape the design of this new Garden Town; not just the architecture, but the leisure and retail amenities as well as the infrastructure requirement such as schools, medical centres, and transport. We want the design emphasis to be landscape-led with large areas of open parkland and well-designed public realm that both new residents and the wider community can enjoy. We believe that long-term, collaborative planning leads to effective, valuable and sustainable placemaking.”

The Arcadis consultant team includes Farrells, the architects to lead the design of the master plan, and WYG as planning consultant. Kevin Murray Associates will deliver community engagement and consultation, and Property House Marketing are the media consultants.

The first community engagement to shape the master plan is anticipated to take place in November.
